KIPCOR News

Western District Conference partners with other non-profit organizations to promote the priorities of our mission.  KIPCOR (Kansas Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution) is one way to be "reconciling our relationships to Christ, each other, and the world" (priority #2 for WDC).  Their  newsletter carries information, contact numbers, and articles.  Also, WDC contracts with KIPCOR for special services at a reduced rate when congregations desire assistance, consultation, or professional services.

HOPE Home Repair is a faith-based organization that preserves and revitalizes houses and communities, assuring that homeowners in need (particularly those who are elderly, disabled and low-income families with children) live in warmth, safety and independence.  HOPE Home Repair fills the void left when Mennonite Housing discontinued their home repair program.   The organization’s goal is to make a sustainable impact with people and neighborhoods in partnership with the communities in Harvey and Sedgwick counties.

Your gifts are needed to support the ongoing work in Harvey County.  Many more requests are received than can be acted upon right now – your support would make a difference!

Opportunity:  Tabor Mennonite is invited to submit a request to be represented on our Board of Directors.   Our Executive Director’s position is expanding to manage the increased activity in our organization and we are currently interviewing new candidates for this position.  If interested, contact Marvin Holck (283-8701)  or Neal Schwabauer (316-284-1011).

Mennonite Association of Retired Persons

Are you over 50? 60? 70? Mennonite Association of Retired Persons welcomes new members from all Anabaptist-related churches. Consider joining for extra encouragement and creative ideas as you head toward or beyond retirement.

MARP brings inspiration and joy to many through a yearly fall retreat and as it celebrates fitness and health with the Mennonite Senior Sports Classic. MARP urges older adults to serve “in Jesus’ name” while at home or during periods of travel. Each year hundreds of members serve with SOOP (Service Opportunities for Older People), sharing life skills and friendship in a variety of locations of need throughout the states and Canada. The MARP board has chosen the motto, “Older Adults Living With Spirit,” and its members are urged to listen to God’s continuing call on their lives.

Currently the quarterly newsletter, PAGES, is mailed to 4500 in 40 plus states. Please join now as a lift to your own “spirit” and to lend your support. The membership fees vary with number of applications and length of membership.
